If you haven’t noticed, the internet is quickly being divided into two spaces. Google is organizing the internet you don’t know (search results) and Facebook is organizing what you do know (Friends, groups etc). It’s a sort of Jihad vs McWorld in the sense that Facebook is the same, repeated, well known entity (like a franchise) and Google leads you through the web (like a nomad) to find exactly what you’re looking for. All other large sites, networks and trends will, and can, be purchased or shut down by these two behemoth companies. Know if only we knew which one would buy Twitter. Just a thought.
